People in Darkness Will See a Great Light

The first coming of the King has already happened, and we are still in the process of taking the good news of his fair, just, and loving rule to all peoples. Hundreds of thousands of Dong people have no idea who Jesus is. Upon mention of his name, many say, "Oh, Jesus was a person?" The name sounds familiar, but the Dong people of China know little beyond that. They are in complete darkness.

Isaiah 9:2,6 (NLT)

The people who walk in darkness will see a great light -- a light that will shine on all who live in the land where death casts its shadow.

For a child is born to us, a son is given to us...These will be his royal titles: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Where is the "land where death casts its shadow?" It is all around us. The only way to escape the sting of death is through Jesus Christ. The land where death still reigns is the land where people have not yet received Christ, and the Dong are still living in that land.

They will see a great light, though! The light of the coming child will shine hope in the land of darkness, and death will no longer overshadow the Dong people. And when the news of that child, Jesus Christ, comes to the Dong areas, they too can live the the Kingdom of God, established in justice and righteousness.

Lord Jesus, we know you have come. We already know of the child born to us, and have experienced the Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. You are all that and more. We ask that you would continue to use your children to tell the good news of your coming to the Dong people who live in darkness, outside of a life with you. Break the power of darkness over them and reveal to them the light of life.

    Dong Team,
I went to a Dong village once with a friend of mine who was working there. I was asked to speak to a group of kids next Wednesday about my missions experience and I prayferfully decided to share about the Dong people. I was blessed by reading your website and will share with the students some insight from the updated reports. If there is any other material or information I could share please let me know.

  2. That is exactly the kind of involvement we love to see. We want to see people getting involved in prayer, joining with what God is doing among the Dong people in China, and sharing that joy with others.
I can think of few better ways than encouraging children to pray. Often, children display a faith in prayer that makes the adults shudder. DongTeam will most certainly try to help provide all the information you could want and use with the kids.
