Revealed in Nature

newest computer desktop wallpaper of Chengyang wind and rain bridgeThis week, we are focusing on the scripture used in the newest computer desktop wallpaper on the DongTeam Media page. And yes, that is a hint...there is a new background for your computer if you are interested.

In Romans 1, Paul says, "For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse."

The consequences of this verse are powerful, so much so that it is disturbing. We like to think of the Dong people, at least I do, as innocent. They have not yet heard the truth and thus will receive some extra grace from God or something. That is not what it says here. How do these verses change our understanding of the Dong work? How better could we pray?

Even Dong architecture mimics nature, so there must have been someone somewhere back in time that sat down and thought through the meaning of nature, one chiseled wood chip at a time. Did that person never think of the origins of nature, where it all came from? In addition, Dong people themselves will admit the spirits they worship are evil, to be avoided through sacrifices. Have they never questioned the logical evidence of an all-powerful and divinely good Creator?

Father, reading these verses helps us feel a profound thankfulness to you for allowing us to learn of you so clearly and to such depths through Jesus. Thank you that we did not have to figure out who you are just from the creation around us. This thought makes us feel such compassion for the Dong people. Have mercy on them Lord. Please use us, use our resources, and go to every length to help us take the message of Jesus to the Dong people.
